WHAT'S THE AWS RAPID ?

INTRODUCTION

All Weather Sportscover Ltd has created the RAPID, a patented elevated pitch protection system for summer and winter code stadiums that are powered by: Parker Hydraulics underground hydraulics, combined with winning America's Cup yachting technology in fibreglass/carbon fibre poles, along with the world's strongest ropes (dyneema cables), stays, mobile aluminum tripods, weighted water bladders and containers and specific elevated fabric covers used in rural, acoustic, marine and industrial. All tested by WSP Opus wind and structural engineers.

It allows the stadium to have:

  • Less deployment with only 2-3 ground staff (winter codes)
  • Easy to use letting the hydraulics do the work.
  • Ability to work underneath regardless of the weather
  • LED Advertising either at the game or on TV.
  • Specific elevated fabric used for sport, acoustic, marine, industrial and agricultural services.
  • Strong cables made out of dyneema ropes (the world’s strongest ropes).
  • Carbon fibre poles with the flexibility of fibreglass and the combined strength of carbon fibre (8 times the strength of aluminum)
  • Ability to secure the cover with mobile tripod scaffolds positioned underneath to stop sagging, as well as tensioning from hydraulics.
  • Water bladders/containers akin to concrete used to hold down marquees, using instead Honda water pumps (2000L per min) or on pre-filled containers with pallet jacks.
  • Wind loadings to EU code standards.
  • Further monitoring with 24/7 iPad access of the temperature, moisture, wind, frost and rain level.
  • Leading inflated tubes as endorsed by Cricket Australia/Cricket Victoria

FEATURES

REVERSE CURVE SEMI ELEVATED

Features:

  • Side tensioned trawler line
  • Fully covered at ends of pitch
  • Drainage at either end of pitch
  • Roller deployment at one end of the pitch
  • Lines parallel to roll axis can be rolled
  • Possible for automated canopy extension control
  • Three lines tensioned by angled supports
  • Anchored at ground level either end of pitch

post deployment

Pole structure covered by a removable cap of astro-turf and a semi structural base. Cap sits flush with grass level and should support the travelling across of maintenance vehicles.

  • Cover deployed and hooked up to support poles immediately the side guys are adjacent to the pole. - Maintaining control of the cover.
  • Tensioning initiated by extending the angled side supports once cover is fully deployed on the pitch.
  • Wireless control system and monitoring allows semi automated deployment and tensioning.
  • De-tensioning could be automated in an extreme weather event overload scenario along with remote monitoring.
  • Once cover guy lines are attached, tensioning is initiated by extending the angled side supports. Poles auto adjust to height differentials and load parameters by smart sensing.
  • Guy lines can either be built into the cover as reinforced areas (as in sails) or they could be full length and parallel to the roll axis. -Can potentially be rolled.
